Q. Why are you selling seats, not boots?
A. We wanted to set a target number of boots to send, and tying the target into the world cup final stadium capacity seemed like an obvious choice.
Q. Why have you chosen to send boots to Africa?
A. There are other organisations that send footballs and shirts to African children and we wanted to do something a little different. Having visited Africa, it was apparent footwear was in desperately short supply. Boots were also the hardest thing to do, and we like a challenge.
Q. Where will the boots be sent?
A. We have partnered with a number of overseas charities who will use the boots to incentivise children to participate in courses aimed at education and awareness raising curriculums. Click here for examples.
Q. Can I buy boots to use myself or for my children, relatives etc?
A. Yes. Our main business is supplying boots to UK based consumers. Click here to be taken to the on-line shop.
Q How can you afford to sell the boots for only £14.99?
A. We can afford to take accept a lower margin as we’re a social enterprise, not governed by shareholders or short term profit targets. Our initial consideration was to make our boots available and accessible to all and we have priced them accordingly.
Q. Why have you chosen the charity partners that you have?
A. It was important for us to choose what we refer to as ‘practitioner’ partners. By this we mean the charities should be engaged in ‘hands on’ activities that make a real difference to the lives of the communities they operate in, not merely revenue raising organisations.
Q. What happens to the profits you’ll make?
A. Because kick4change is a Community Interest Company, profits go into an ‘asset lock’. The proceeds of the asset lock have to be used for the benefit of UK communities and this is enforced by the CIC regulator, a government body. We have specified the profits in the asset lock will be spent on community initiatives, grass roots sports, schools and good causes.
